I went out to feed the chickens this morning and while three of my hens were waiting at the chicken-house door for their cracked corn. My fourth hen, Bastet (yes, she's named after the Goddess I blogged about yesterday) was back in the roosting area.
The nesting room is pretty dark. So you can imagine my surprise when I could barely see not one but TWO shapes in the roosting basket. I couldn't believe I actually caught her cuddling up to my Russian Fantale dove!
Seriously? I had to run back into the house to get my camera. I'm so glad they were still together when I returned.
When I first arrived, Hercules (the dove) was actually partially burrowed underneath her like a chick might do. It's pretty cold outside -- so I'm sure the animals find warmth any way they can.
Below is one of my other doves -- a ring-neck female. The cold never seems to bother her as she's out in the front open area of the coop all of the time.
