New Job To Supplement Psychic Work

I recently accepted a regular job. Not only has Doug's income decreased in this economy . . . but so had mine as customers no longer felt they could afford intuitive readings with their job losses, etc.
That being stated: I've learned some discouraging facts about casino waitressing and thought to share the "news" with my readers.

Many casino customers assume because non-alcoholic drinks are FREE they should not have to TIP the beverage server. Yet many casinos are run by Independent Nations which do NOT pay servers the state's minimum wage. That means beverage servers must live off the tips that customers pay them (or starve).

For the early morning casino shift, when nobody's yet awake for ordering double tequila shots or liquid cocaine (beverages with alcohol, for which customers must pay) a server can truly LOSE INCOME by delivering too many free non-alcoholic beverages (e.g., coffee, orange juice, soda) to non-tipping customers. They can lose money because many casino's enter into an agreement with their state to charge servers a designated income tax on the STREET VALUE of those so-called "free" beverages; regardless of what the customer did NOT have to pay.

I'm not kidding . . . cocktail servers can LOSE money by working very hard!

Create good karma. If you ever receive good service from a waiter/waitress -- make sure you tip according to the quality of service they provided (not by the stated value of some product). If you ever go to a casino and want FREE drinks without paying for service . . . then please utilize the FREE self-serve stations provided.

Hang in there....I think things in general are slowly getting better.
I do think it is a sign of our current society attitudes that people who want to throw away money gambling also want everything else for free. insert rolleyes here

Something's out of kilter, here. The beverages are complimentary, and should be counted on the customers' income, rather than the servers.

Yes, as above, the customer, in a casino, is to be rewarded for being lucky, and should only pay if the drink does not arrive.

Celestite ~ thank you for have such very "aware" sentiments. {{hugs}} You made me feel better.

Arawn ~ not sure what you meant by customers only paying if the drink does NOT arrive . . . typo?

Typo? Where? Celestite made the point, Casino Patrons are there to be served well, or to pay, so, serve badly, and charge extra.

I've heard, somewhere, that TIPS is an acronym for To Ensure Prompt Service, and I've no idea what tipping is appropriate myself, so a sign to recommend gratitude might be a good idea.
"To Ensure Prompt Service: ... " You'd be surprised how many people read that with amazement, and even more surprised how many pay extra for that Special Gucci Treatment.

Gucci: "If you were good enough to shop here, you'd bring an entourage for us to treat like shit." One reporter described how bad the service was, and was sent Flowers.

Gambling is an adventure in Losing, and Winners get bored real quick.

I've just been reading Sir Leonard Woolley's treatise on The Sumerians, and it seems the temples owned the country. I wonder who'd have been the God of Losing?

I still don't get how free drinks are counted as your own income, for tax purposes?
